How Corona Lockdown is helping my Mental Health

With the UK currently on day 4 of lockdown, it’s more important than ever before, to have even a small sense of normality. We’ve decided to get dressed up at home as much as possible. And not let our standards (for ourselves, not each other, I hasten to add) slip too much.

Women are relishing in the fact that because of corona lockdown, they no longer need to wear makeup. However it’s such an integral part of my mental health and helps my sense of ‘normal’. Ben and I work from home anyway, so not a lot has changed for us. Except our date nights, trips to the shops and twice monthly trips to London.

I always try and look at the positives in every situation and actually my mental health is better than it’s ever been with everyone on lockdown. I have no fomo (fear of missing out) from events, trips, parties, dinners etc. No sense of Imposter Syndrome and I’m not comparing my life to someone else’s 24/7. I think it’s taught me how much social media had been affecting me, without me even realising it. It’s a little lesson to take a step back and re-evaluate what I want to get out of the online community.

We’ve had a week of gorgeous sunshine, which has also given me a mood boost and dusted the cobwebs off my SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder). It also seems like a little thank you from Mother Nature for giving the planet’s pollution a small break. We’ve heard stories about the Venice canals clearing up and dolphins reappearing. Plus maps showing a dramatic decline in pollutive gases above major cities across the world.

Clothes are a form of expression to me and always have been, so I’m actually enjoying planning outfits and having a look at what I have in my wardrobe.

On Saturday, we hosted an Instagram Live cocktail party on Ben’s profile which was a lot of fun. We got dressed up and the photos are some of my favourite we’ve ever taken.

The dress is a piece from the JohannaOrtizXH&M collaboration, from which I bought two pieces. It’s had so many compliments and is so unbelievably well made and priced. I can’t wait to finally be able to wear it outside the house!

Are you able to take any positives from the Corona Lockdown?
