Every season needs a separate selection of fragrances. I still have my favourites that I go back to for special occasions, but each season, I like to mix it up a bit. These four are my current favourites for daily use during Winter and throughout the festive season.
Mr. Alaia’s second fragrance, Alaia Paris Blanche, was born from a childhood memory. He describes it as “a bucket of cold water thrown against a wall of scorching chalk” conjured up from a visit to the Alhambra of Granada which also just so happens to be where I met Stephen Hawking as a little girl. I’m a sucker for a story and the story behind this is so intricate, much like the beautiful laser cut glass of the bottle. The top of the bottle is just as intricate and could be mistaken for a roll of cotton thread turned gold. The scent itself is a mix of vanilla and musk scents. It’s fresh and an unbelievable choice for January representing clean slates and the pureness of a new year.
I already love Marc Jacobs Fragrances. Daisies being my favourite flowers, the classic Daisy fragrance was always going to be a go to. Decadence however, pulls out all the stops and so it should with a name like that! A handbag design with an unusual green faux snake print lid and gold metal strap encases a woody scent with a heart of Jasmine and Bulgarian Rose and liquid amber to finish it off. It’s incredibly beautiful and works perfectly as an evening scent for any occasion!
Elie Saab Le Parfum Eclat d’Or is a special edition for Christmas 2016 and wonderfully luxurious. The prism made from gold-lacquered facets turns the iconic bottle into a glittering diamond shape. The fragrance is a delicious blend of sweet orange top notes, Orange Blossom, carnal Jasmine and Ylang-ylang sit in the heart of the fragrance while Rose Honey looks after the accords. Of course, the signature woody Patchouli pulls it all together to create the delicious warm fragrance that was perfect for my Christmas day!
Coach Eau de Parfum a floral oriental style scent in the most beautiful rose gold bottle with a gold turn lock, iconic of the clasp of Coach’s signature bags. The classic horse and carriage print takes pride of place in the centre of the bottle and I love the extra leather hangtag for a luxury finishing touch. This is my current day scent while I wait for the real spring blooms to arrive!
So there you have it. The fragrances I’m wearing and loving this winter. With the coldest weather yet to come, there’s still time to introduce these beauties to your collection.
Which is your favourite? Have you tried any of these yet?
