There’s nothing better than wandering through your City, discovering the little secrets it has to offer. The Gentleman and I spend many weekends, aimlessly wandering through London to see where our feet may take us.
After having a lovely breakfast with Rhiannon from Leake Street, The Gentleman came and picked me up and we walked towards Soho from Mayfair. Our walk took us past this fabulous art installation; commissioned by The Royal Academy of Arts and TurkishCeramics who appointed SO? to design it. ‘Unexpected Hill is an urban intervention that invites the public to occupy it over the summer months.’ It’s not only practical, but also beautiful and created the perfect backdrop for an impromptu outfit photoshoot.
After grabbing a quick sandwich lunch, we popped to the theatre to see Miss Saigon. I haven’t been to the theatre in years, but this was an incredible production. From the very start, the actors had us completely captivated and overly emotional. Hysterical laughter was transformed into sobbing fits at the drop of a curtain and every seat in the house was silent. Transformed into a parallel world watching the story of orphaned bar girl, Kim; who falls in love with a GI called Chris as they witness the fall of Saigon. The performance was fabulous, the set design, acting, costumes and staging was exceptionally professional and Ben and I both loved it!
We walked and talked after the performance and found ourselves standing in front of Crosstown Doughnuts. The matte black shop front is nestled between an underwear shop and a chocolate shop. A heavenly carby scent drifts through the open door and enticed us in.
Eventually, we settled on our decision; Sea Salt Caramel and Banana Cream Doughnut for me and a Peanut Butter and Berry Jam Doughnut for him. I think my facial expression says it all really. These doughnuts are game changing. I barely even managed to get a snap of Ben’s, before it was wolfed down.
We finished with a green tea for me and a mocha for him. I sort of want to try each of their 15 (?!) incredible flavours. Perhaps I’ll become a doughnut connoisseur, just to make it acceptable.
After the taste explosion we’d just experienced, we practically flew home, on cloud nine!
