Girl time and cake

There is nothing better than spending a Sunday afternoon with a lovely group of girls and lots of tea and cake.

The lovely Sophie invited me for an afternoon tea at the Charlotte Street Hotel. In the short time we’ve known each other, she’s obviously figured out my weaknesses already. Cocktails and cake!

The Charlotte Street Hotel is amazing. Bright, airy and welcoming with gorgeously colourful decor and beautifully delicate table settings. I was the first to arrive so did the whole awkward ‘where do I sit’ dance and eventually found my place to wait for the others to arrive.

Next were the lovely Melanie and Jess followed closely by Khrissie, April and Lottie then not long after, our beautiful host with her brand new sparkly rock (yes, on her left hand!)

Most of us went for the Traditional Afternoon Tea filled with cakes, scones and gorgeous little sandwiches!

A mixture of plain and fruit scones served with clotted cream and fresh jam. Unfortunately I just didn’t have the room for any scones, but took one home for a hungry Gentleman who concluded that they were delicious.

The carrot cake was heavenly. It’s one of my favourite cakes anyway, but this one was so deliciously moist (I hate saying that word, can someone invent a word that means the same?!) The Victoria Sponge was heavenly too. Perfectly sweet and light, but maybe with slightly too much cream for my taste.

Smoked Salmon, Cheese and Pickle and Egg Sandwiches, minus the crusts and all at just the right size to demolish in two little bites.

Chocolate and Orange Mini Gateaux topped with a crisp wafer biscuit. Again, my stomach had given up on me at this point, but our gorgeous waiter Javier brought through a few boxes for us to take the extras away to hungry boyfriends and husbands.

And then, as if Javier hadn’t been enough of a star, he produced these for us! I had a chocolate one and it was delicious. I truly think these would make an awesome little canape type dessert for a Summer Dinner Party. I just want to see their mini ice cream scoop, must be adorable!

I had such a lovely time with the girls. One of the major things about blogging is the fact that you’re constantly meeting new people. The friendships within blogging are the one thing that I will always be grateful for. Thanks so much to Sophie for organising and huge congratulations on your engagement, his proposal was just too beautiful for words so thank you for sharing the story with us!

P.S. For all you fashion followers, here’s what I wore;

Top – River Island, Skirt – Zara (sale!)

The beautiful jewellery AND bag, by the way, are from my new business venture with Stella & Dot. Aren’t the pieces stunning? Let me know what you think!
