I absolutely adore events. I always have, becoming a blogger I never dreamed of being asked to attend events or invited to launch parties. Every new event I receive an invite for, I get excited about. Then one of my friends popped up on Facebook saying she was working for the PR Company that looked after Very.co.uk, and ‘would I like to come to the launch of the SS14 collection?’ Would I?! Let me think about it… er, YES?!
Rushing from Mayfair, I galloped across London to arrive behind Carnaby Street, where the event was to be taking place. I was late. Obviously.
The event was supposed to start at 5pm, unfortunately I don’t finish work until 6pm so had to make do. “Working 9-5 what a way to make a living” – think they got the timings wrong in that one!
The event was well under way and I have to say I felt a little under-dressed in my work blouse and pencil skirt. The girls from Lee Publicity did an excellent job of getting me involved and relaxed and I found myself; cocktail in hand and in the make-up chair before I knew what was happening.
Now anyone that knows me, knows that I’m not a huge fan of Mac make-up. Admittedly, I haven’t tried the lipsticks and my dislike is to do with the foundation. So when I found out that the lady who was to be ‘transforming’ me was a Mac make-up artist. I feared the worst, but my fears were settled (slightly) when she explained that she regularly does the make-up for many a celebrity client. I was there for just 5 minutes and in that time she transformed me from dowdy office girl to how a blogger should look. I genuinely loved what she did with my eyes (I never deviate from just mascara and eye liner) creating a cat like, gold and brown smokey eye effect.
I love the two piece she’s wearing, which is quickly becoming my go-to style. It’s so comfortable, cosy and yet bang on trend with the bright colours. Perfect for this weather that can’t quite decide what it wants to do!
The SS14 collection focuses on three main trends that are everywhere this season. Tribal, Bright Colour Accents and of course, everyone’s favourites, the pastels.
This season, the pastel trend has had a makeover. Normally warm pinks, oranges and yellows, this season is all about icey colours. Pastel Blue, Green, Purple all with silvery under tones to ensure they stay fresh. The same trend was conveyed at the Reiss Fashion Show at Bloggers Fashion Week Day 1 – stay tuned for that post!
Tribal always manages to crop up somehow, and I’m so glad it does because it’s such a versatile trend and surprisingly flattering! Of course, mixed with the bright pops of colour from our other current trend, it totally modernises the outfit and hauls it into the new season. If you want to see an impeccable way to wear these trends, head on over to Two Shoes, One Pair. Both Naomi and Amy always get the trends just right, and show you genius ways to wear them!
I managed to leave the event with a gorgeous jumpsuit which you can get online very soon! I wore mine to Day 2 at Bloggers Fashion Week and felt fabulous in it! (post also coming soon!)
Everything had been so beautifully thought out at the event. The food looked incredible (for once my arms were full so I couldn’t eat) and the cocktails were amazingly yummy (you put things down when cocktails appear).
I had such a fab evening looking at the new collection and meeting new people. I even got to dress up in some of the clothes, to then have the photographer snap a few pictures of me in it! This was part of their Blogger Edit, which can be found on their Facebook page!
