A Breakfast Meeting in The Parlour at Sketch

Sketch has been famous amongst Londoner’s for a long time now. It had a rise in popularity in 2012, when owner Mourad Mazouz (also creator of my fave Momo’s) decided to collaborate with artist Martin Creed to create a mis-matched dining room in the main gallery. This paved the way for the even more famous pink Art Gallery that David Shrigley created in 2014. The pink art gallery was made famous thanks to its Instagramability. This meant locals and tourists flocked there in their droves.

What has really given Sketch it’s fame though, is the fact that every single room is so different. You could quite literally spend an entire day in the huge old Georgian Town House without getting bored.

On this particular occasion however, we were there for a breakfast meeting with Primark in The Parlour (love a bit of alliteration). The Parlour is the only room in Sketch that’s dog friendly, and a great new find for our meetings. I’m sure you know by now that Pepi comes with us almost everywhere. So it’s great to find somewhere so welcoming to our special fur-baby and so central!

The menu is every bit as eccentric as the interior with Items on the menu including Tijuana Poached Eggs – Beans, Avocado, Quacamole, huevos Rancheros and Tortilla as well as Poached Tempura Eggs. I decided to step away from the pancakes for one morning and try the Tempura eggs instead. Hard Poached Eggs (I can’t help thinking it would have tasted so much better runny-poached), coated in a tempura batter and served with salad and your choice of accompaniment. I went for Bacon as an addition, while Ben chose the Mortadella and Ricotta Cheese. Both were delicious, but definitely needed a good dollop of Sketchup (that’s Sketch Ketchup – a delicious beetroot condiment made in the kitchen).

One of our breakfast companions went for the scrambled eggs with parmesan and mushrooms which looked delicious. While the other had eggs Benedict with bacon. We chatted about some exciting things coming up with Primark. Including the opening of their biggest store IN THE WORLD opening in Birmingham next month. Primark have taken over an old shopping centre for the new store. Which will contain five floors of shopping, barbers, salons, free wifi AND a Disney cafe!

The food was delicious and it was actually really quiet, so I would highly recommend visiting for breakfast. I can definitely see The Parlour becoming one of our favourite meeting spots – I’m not entirely sure why we haven’t planned more meetings there already!

Breakfast meeting over, we walked down to Piccadilly to head home for the day in the glorious sunshine.
