Owning a supercar

We all dream of a life we don’t have and it’s human nature to want more. It will come as no surprise then, that in my minds eye half my life is spent on a deserted island filled with puppies, Ben at my side, a stream of incredible novels and a cocktail constantly in my hand.

The other half wanders in and out of London life and darts between the luxury cars and beautiful houses wondering when they’ll one day be mine (a girl can dream). Last month, Ben and I were gifted a supercar for the weekend to experience how the ‘other half’ live. Of course, if you’re going to have a supercar, it’s go hard or go home. BMW lent us the I8 in bright orange.

There was no way we were going to be hiding in this car, so there was only one thing for it. Road trip.

We put on our most extravagant shades and drove to Devon. Pulling into Exeter from my parents the morning after, children waved us past and I don’t think I’ve ever wanted to bump into an ex more than I did opening those butterfly style doors and climbing out. Definitely a rock star moment that I became far too comfortable with.

I’d be lying if I said sitting in the I8 felt like sitting in a super car. I actually didn’t notice unless the engine was revved. You don’t feel super close to the ground and the front seats are so spacious that i could stretch my legs right out. The only thing the car is lacking is boot space, but the back seats hold a couple of overnight bags much better than they seat actual passengers anyway.

The car is beautiful. I honestly didn’t think I would love it as much as I did, but even when the weekend was over I made Ben drive me to work two days in a row.

Have you had the opportunity to drive in a super car?
